The 12th is one of many tee shots over water.ISLA CANELA GOLF

This relatively flat course makes excellent use of water hazards and twisting fairways to give a challenging round of golf. Unfortunately it is oversubscribed so play is slow and the course is ragged in places.

The par 4 15th hole is short but has a green protected by water. The crowding makes for very slow (5½ hours!) play and some of the greens are in poor condition. There are some good holes and it is not a long course but it is not very satisfying either.

The high handicapper may be anxious at the many tee shots over water but will find comfort in the large greens. Take plenty of golf balls to counter the omnipresent water and verdant rough.

Holes Of Note:

15th - the right dogleg and water in front of the green make this short (315m) par 4 a good test of skill and strategy.

17th - left-centre is essential from the tee as the lake is within driving distance. The turning fairway and trees make this 489m par 5 challenging and memorable.
