The 7th greenMOUNT OSWALD GOLF CLUB, DURHAM

The picturesque and superb front nine through forest is slightly let down by an open and bland back nine.

A beginner could play this course, albeit slowly. The high handicapper will have to exercise caution on the many holes where copses of trees and streams can punish ill planned or poorly struck shots. The straight fairways on the open back nine are disappointing after the tree-lined splendour of the front nine.

Holes Of Note:

4th - Plays as a drivable par 4 (256 yd) from the back tees or a longish par 3 [164 yd] from the front tees.

5th - A reasonable 366 yd par 4 requiring a 3 wood to the bottom of the valley and an accurate long iron over well positioned bunkers to an elevated green. Beware of trying to take your tee shot too long as the river awaits!
