Romanby Golf Course's par 3 11th holeROMANBY GOLF CLUB

Undulating course with growing trees, good greens, and some water hazards. It offers a variety of challenges and some holes are very attractive where they use existing landscape features.

The more elevated holes were windswept and the lower holes close to rivers and lakes. Even in winter the fairways and USGA standard greens were in good condition. But all were playable and demanded sound strategy. In summer the firmer fairways, well placed hazards, and contoured firm greens will probably test any golfer.

The high handicapper should plan to avoid the water and sand. The trees also merit respect and sensible recovery shots. The safe lines are apparent in the "Shotmiser" guide. The large greens are often elevated with dramatic run-offs and will reward good chipping and putting.

Holes Of Note:

2nd - blind lay up before a lake to pitch onto a sloping green.

9th - par 5 winds with river right and road (ob) left, to a contoured green in trees.

11th - dramatic par 3 over a lake, attack the pin or safely go right.

Recommended Handicap 28

"Good course with a few memorable holes but overpriced in winter."
Steve says:
"Tough in windy conditions. Two superb signature holes."
