The 3rd at the aptly named LagunaLAGUNA, VILAMOURA

Possibly the most demanding course we played on the Algarve. With water on most holes you should be playing mid irons or you will lose a lot of golf balls. Unfortunately many greens and some fairways are a little ragged. The sandy conditions and openess of the course recall links golf but here a stray shot leaves the ball lost in water. Whilst the fairways are quite generous any wind turns this course into a test of patience.

The par 5 fifth hole, dominated by water on the right. The high handicapper find this a challenge needing straight shots and good club selection to avoid water and deep rough. Fear is a factor to be considered but take spare balls and apply realistic strategies for a satisfying if tiring round.

Lower handicappers will find this a tough course to play. Course management is paramount with water placed at driving length and many approaches over water to well guarded greens.

Holes Of Note:

3rd, a 380yd par 4 that doglegs right over water with bunkers to catch a pulled shot from the elevated tee.

15th, a 550yd par 5 requiring a long tee shot for position to play over water onto the fairway. the hole then doglegs to the right with water along the right edge of the hole up to the well bunkered green.

Recommended Handicap 20
