VILAMOURA OLD COURSEThe original course at Vilamoura dates back to 1969. It is a well established course lined by mature woodland with excellent greens. Hitting the fairways is vital for a good score as the rough and large trees limit the recovery shots. Take your medicine when you stray into the undergrowth and play back onto the fairway. Always worth playing. The course is much hillier than the others at Vilamoura with a number of elevated tees and greens. The Old Course is as lush as any UK parkland course and has the same tall trees. |
The greens are well bunkered and fairly fast. Sadly the fairways had many unreplaced divots, inconsiderate visitors undermining the efforts of the green keepers. The high handicapper will find the fairways are wide but being treelined, staying on is more important than raw distance.
